TUT are set to welcome the spring season in great style when they host University of North West-Mafikeng for the second Varsity Football semi-final, at the TUT Stadium on Thursday evening.
TUT are hot favourites heading into the semi-final, after playing seven matches without a single loss. And the home side have their tails up after beating NWU 1-0 in the same fixture a few weeks ago, courtesy of goal by man-of-the-moment Jacob Hlalele.
TUT goalkeeper, Dumsani Msibi, has termed the game against NWU as one of the biggest games in the Varsity Football competition so far and has since fired a warning shot to their opponents.
“It’s a big match,” said Msibi. “But we not stressing about them [NWU]. We know how they play and they know how we play. We will not change how we play and we’ll leave it upon them to deal with us.”
TUT has always enjoyed impressive home support from their own fans and nothing less is expected tomorrow with their number one supporter, Itu Molose, already issuing a statement that will paint the TUT Stadium red.
“I am urging our fans to fill the stadium tomorrow,” says Molose. “I am appealing to everyone to wear the red colors. This is the biggest day for TUT football and let’s come out in big numbers to support the boys.”
TUT coach, Bushy Moloi, has preferred his tried and tested defence with SuperSport United goalkeeper Dumsani Msibi retaining his no.1 jersey for the Varsity Football match against North West University-Mafikeng at the TUT Stadium tomorrow. However, surprisingly their leading goal scorer, Jacob Hlalele, remains on the bench alongside his partner in crime, Katlego Kgetjepe.
Moloi could just have something up his sleeve with the star striker making an impact off the bench when NWU-Mafikeng legs are tired and their defence is stretched.
TUT starting XI: Dumisani Msibi, Terrence Mashego, Rorisang Rapelang, Collen Ribabu, Elliot Seema, Sipho Sibiya, Thabang Masiteng, Thabang Motau, Sakhile Mthembum, Tlotlo Mothibedi, Sibusiso Ndlovu
Subs: Lloyd Morulane, Godfrey Mahlale, Thabiso Sibisi, Katlego Kgetjepe, Jacob Hlalele, Tumelo Mowa, Thatohatsi Santos
