TUT Women’s Football crowned Gauteng Sasol League Champions

TUT Women’s Football club win the 2018 Sasol League, making them the Gauteng Champions.

Following their dominance of Varsity Women’s Football and another title under the belt, the TUT ladies have continued to soar and make a name for themselves. After 30 matches, having won 27, drawn one and lost just two all season, the TUT Women’s Football club finished on top of the Gauteng table in 82 points – one above Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies FC.

The Sasol Women’s League is South Africa’s premier women’s football league. It was formed in 2009 when Sasol and SAFA partnered to support women’s football. The league comprises of 144 teams which compete within the nine provinces, with over 2800 female players competing on a regular basis.

According to the criteria set for the establishment of the new Women’s Football Premier League to commence in 2019, all provincial winners will qualify to be part of the professional league, as well as the USSA Football Champions. The TUT ladies are set to compete in the inaugural season and could be one of the favourites.

TUT will also be competing at the National Playoffs in December 2018 (in the Northern Cape) for the overall prize of R200 000.00.

The TUT women are reaping the rewards of years of hard work and dedication. The little opportunity they’ve had, they’ve grabbed with both hands.
