The Varsity Netball competition of 2018 is something of the past. Here’s a couple of interesting stats after Kovsies won the final.

■ Kovsies are now the most successful team in Varsity Netball with three titles, followed by NWU (two) and Tuks (one).

■ Kovsies maintained their 100% winning record in finals.

■ It was a third loss in four finals for Tuks.

■ Still no team has gone through a competition unbeaten. The Kovsies lost their only match to the Madibaz by a single goal.

■ It was only the second time in six finals that the home team ended on the winning side.

■ The 63 goals by the home team are the most by a team in a final. The 122 goals were the most scored in a final.

■ Both team’s goal shooters achieved a success rate of 84%.

■ Kovsies managed 30 intercepts to the 24 of Tuks.

■ Ine-Mari Venter and Tshina Mdau of Tuks played in a record fourth final.

■ Akosua Mensah (Tuks), Lefébre Rademan (Kovsies) and Stephanie Brandt (Maties) ended with the most (three) FNB Player of the Match awards.

■ With Khanyisa Chawane claiming the prize as Player of the Tournament, it means the award has gone to Kovsie players five out of six times. Ané Botha was crowned in

2013, Karla Pretorius in 2014 and 2015 and Khomotso Mamburu last year.

■ Stephanie Brandt of the Maties grabbed the most number of intercepts in the competition – 61.

■ Out of the ten shooters who had 170 or more attempts at goal, Sigi Burger (NWU) achieved the best success rate, scoring 162 out of 172 attempts at 94.2%.
