Week 10 is finally here! The identity of the two finalists has been revealed as TUT will take the short trip to Braamfontein in Joburg to visit first time finalist Wits. TUT and Wits are the only team standing and we are about to find out which team will reign supreme on Thursday night. Here are the five things that you can expect on match day nine.
The stadium will be packed to capacity
Wits rarely play in front of a packed stadium, but that is all about to change on Thursday. Their past five participations in this popular Varsity Football tournament have been nothing short of a disappointment and that has played a part in a small turnout at their matches. But this season they have been on another level and they have attracted hundreds of passionate supporters for their home games. The atmosphere in the stands will be electrifying and it will be one of the big occasions.
TUT will back their boys again
What would a final be without the Red Machine supporters? Expect a number of supporters to journey from the capital. TUT supporters standout when it comes to cheering on their team. Their team has been on the road all season, but that hasn’t prevented them from turning out in numbers.
Stars will be born
We’ve seen players like Mokete Mogaila, Matthew Carelse and Godfrey Mahlala rise to the occasion on the great Varsity Football stage. Tomorrow will be no different as stars are born. Last year it was Themba Ndlovu, who will shine brightest in 2018?
High ranking soccer officials will be in attendance
SAFA vice-president Ria Ledwaba, SA Sports minister Tokozile Xaba and Premier Soccer League officials and coaches, scouts and agents will be in attendance. Nothing is more motivating than to see the who’s who of the beautiful game gracing the occasion. Big name figures in the game will temporarily put their busy sports life to come and watch the sixth edition’s main match. The big guns of our sports industry will dish out medals to the finalist how cool is that?
There will be plenty of entertainment
The organizers have already confirmed that they will pull out all the stops to bring in a prominent artist to entertain the crowd before and during the half-time break. The best things in life are for free. It’s costly to go to festivals and concerts. Why not capitalise and go to watch your favourite artist at close to nothing. There will be plenty of prizes up for grabs and lucky fans stand a chance to go home with cool prizes.
