After a flying start to their season, Madibaz coach Lana Krige says her team is full of belief for a positive season.

With one of their best starts to a season, the ladies from Port Elizabeth are full of high hopes. Despite a little setback on Monday with their first loss to Tuks, 67 – 39 in Stellenbosch, the team is still aiming for a top-four finish.

With a relatively easy run into the competition, it allowed the ladies, packed with seven first-years, to ease into the competition with their three wins on the trot against UWC, VUT and UJ, which allowed the newbies to settle in and get a taste of Varsity Netball.

They played strongly, played with confidence and showed that they can be a force to reckon with. They will definitely be taking their confidence into the next round of fixtures, where the hard work needs to be put in. They take on top-of-the-log Kovsies next, followed by the other unbeaten team of NWU, and finish up against Maties.

This run of fixtures feels like a daunting task ahead, but Lana sees the tough fixtures, like their last one against Tuks, as an opportunity to find weaknesses and build on them to succeed in the future.

The fight is there and the team looks a lot stronger than last year, so the hopes are high.

Catch the Madibaz girls in action for their next Varsity Netball match on Sunday at 14:30 against UFS Kovsies to see if they can put up a fight and knock Kovsies off the top of the log.
