The North-West University Varsity Football team are currently ranked second on the 2017 log after drawing last week’s encounter with UP-Tuks at the NWU Stadium in Potchefstroom. It was a match where they unveiled their newest signing, Cameron Chweu, to their 2017 team.

Nicknamed Lebese by his football peers, Cameron Chweu, a Bachelor of Education graduate from the Central University of Technology (CUT) is currently pursuing an honours degree in Education. He is a soccer talent that dazzles each time he wears the number 10 jersey for NWU.

Check out Chweu’s stunning effort in the opening round.

Known for his dominance on the pitch and his scorching right sweep goals, Chweu owns his positions as both a central midfielder and striker, like sharks own the seas. It is his infamous scorching right sweep that has seen him score coveted goals for NWU during the first two matches of this season’s Varsity Football tournament.

The Bloemfontein born-and-raised soccer talent credits his family, his mother in particular, for their unwavering belief and support shown to him as he pursues his first love, football.

No stranger to the competitive nature of football, Chweu made a lasting impression on the NWU technical team during last year’s 2016 Varsity Football tournament season, which saw him being snatched up by NWU from his former team, CUT, adding to what is possibly one of the strongest NWU teams to take part in this year’s tournament.
