A dominating display by the Tuks batsmen and bowlers set up a commanding 51-run win against the Madibaz at the NWU Oval on Friday afternoon.
It was the Tuks left arm blonde assassin, Ruben Trumpelmann (4/13), who did most of the damage to claim a well-deserved FNB Player of the Match award.
Tuks batted first and made a respectable 154/6. Even though they lost Jiveshan Pillay for a duck, Sean Brand (51) and Aaron Visser (51) stabilised the innings with a tremendous 103-run partnership.
The Madibaz, though, kept pressing with Brian Jack and Tlangaleni Mushwana getting rid of both Brand and Visser respectively with the score on 103. The second half of the innings belonged to the Madibaz who did well to restrict Tuks to 154/6 after it looked as though they were on track to score 200.
It was down to the Tuks bowlers to assert their authority on the match and Trumplemann was at it from the start, removing Joshua van Heerden early on.
Spinner Sean Gilson (3/30) was also in the wickets with his spin bowling, as only Madibaz’s Tristan Stubbs, with 28, made any headway.
Trumpelmann finished off the tail with precise bowling as Tuks cruised to victory.
