UP-Tuks enjoyed their unexpected home advantage against UKZN by thumping their opponents 3-0 on Thursday evening.
The home advantage was unexpected as the match was originally scheduled to be played in Durban but unforeseen circumstances forced the proceedings to be moved to the capital.
The first half saw incredible action as supporters have come to know from Varsity Football. However, despite the efforts on the field, the score remained 0-0 with both teams desperate for a positive result.
The opening 15 minutes of the second stanza was much of the same until UP-Tuks grabbed the match by the scruff of the neck and scored two quick goals by Mathuane Selotola and Jerry Tlou in the 60th and 63rd minute respectively.

It would take a further 28 minutes for the Stripe Generation to strike again and it was Selotola who found the back of the net once again with his second goal finishing off a wounded UKZN outfit who will end the season at the foot of the table.
UP-Tuks, meanwhile, are now in fifth position but level on 10 points with rising UWC in third and free-falling TUT – who cling onto the final semi-final place by virtue of one goal. As a result, the final round of action next week is set to be #Iyachesa…!
