This match is dubbed as the final before the final. It does not come bigger than this. It’s the Tshwane derby in the sixth edition of Varsity Football. Sparks are set to fly and the red machine is ready to march on the grand finale.

TUT have a top class goalkeeper
The lanky Sikhumbuzo Ncube is a brilliant goalkeeper. His ball distribution and his presence in goal are second to none. The tall keeper commands his defence and his awareness in his eighteen yard box gives his backline peace of mind. He knows when to launch attacks and when to come out of his box to punch or hold the ball. With a goalkeeper like this in your team, half of the job has already been done.

Coach Bushy Moloi is a serial winner
Coach Moloi does not take kindly to defeats especially in big match like derbies. Moloi has a winning mentality and pushes his team to the limit. He has only won one Varsity Football title and he wants more titles, and he knows that this is the best chance for him to claim another title and that can be done if he gets past his bitter rivals, Tuks. Moloi summons his players to long meetings after defeats and they won’t want to be subjected to another one after the derby. This coach has a winning mentality and he is a good motivator.

Playing away from home will play into their hands
No home ground advantage; no problem. This has been the story of TUT all season. The red machine somehow play at their best away from their fortress. They were severely punished by preventing them from playing all their matches at home. But they responded in a true champion’s spirit by going away to get results and eventually booking their spot in the semis. Playing at Tuks does not scare them as they know that they have the potential to claim the bragging rights.

TUT have beaten Tuks this season
The fact that they have beaten them 2-1 on the opening day on the season will work in TUT’s favaour. The pressure is on Tuks to prevent TUT from completing the double. TUT have nothing to lose but everything to gain. Nothing will be sweeter than to dump their cross-town rivals out of this popular Varsity competition in their own yard.

TUT have knocked Tuks at this stage before
TUT will look to the history books going into this match. In 2016 they defeated Tuks in the penalty shoot-out and went on to lift the trophy. History tells us that TUT are odds-on favourites to clinch their place in the cup final for the third time in their history. It looks like playing at Tuks has more benefits for the red machine.
