TUT are looking forward for revenge against the University of Western Cape when the two cross swords in the Varsity Football match set for Cape Town on Monday.
TUT are still licking their wounds after being beaten by UWC 2-1 during the Varsity Football final in Cape Town last year. The Tshwane-based side, who remain unbeaten in the competition so far this year, are determined to reverse the scoreline this year and repair their dented image.
“Talking about the game against UWC is like opening old wounds,” says TUT midfielder Thabang Motau. “They beat us last year and this time we need to to reverse the score.
“We played well in the first half during the finals and threw away the game in the second half,” he added. TUT are travelling to Cape Town beaming with confidence, having already qualified for the Varsity Football semi-finals, where they expect to enjoy home ground advantage.
“We are still unbeaten in the tournament and we want to keep that record. We are going down to Cape Town for nothing but the three points,” Motau added.
They often say if it’s not broken, why fix it? TUT coach Bushy Moloi is set to deploy the same striking force of Jacob Hlalele and Katlego Kgetjepe, that has faithfully delivered goals for the current log leaders, when they visit UWC on Monday. Hlalele is currently the top goal scorer with five goals to his name.
TUT face UWC at the UWC Stadium on Monday 29 August at 16:30. The match will be live on SuperSport channel 210.
