Maties Netball dominated their Round Two match against visiting VUT 81-22, to grab a second successive bonus-point victory and top the standings after two rounds of Varsity Netball action.
The hosts drew first blood at the Coetzenburg Indoor Centre before VUT managed to score a few quick goals and lead 4-3 for a few moments. This jolted the Maties team and they quickly scored 10 unanswered goals to lead 16-6 after the
first quarter.
The second quarter was very subdued and the teams went into the halftime break with Maties leading 32-14. Coach Zanele Mdodana must have fed her team some batteries at the break because they scored 12 goals in the blink of an eye and then proceeded to quickly lead by 30 goals at 49-19.
A power play was called but neither team used it to much effect, with Maties going past the magical 50 goal tally to secure a bonus point.
Going into the final quarter the Maties used the power play to go from 64-20 to 80-22 very quickly, and increased their points difference significantly.
The Maties next host UJ while VUT face NWU in Bloemfontein.
