The man who rescued a point in dramatic fashion last week, netted a brace for TUT as they hammered UFH 7-0 in Alice on Thursday night.
Both teams were in search of a maiden win in the 2017 Varsity Football campaign,after TUT’s draw and UFH’s loss last week. But it was the men from Tshwane that were out of the blocks first with a quick goal from Mogau Mphahlele with less than 60 seconds on the clock.
The men from Alice had a few attempts at goal but nothing to trouble TUT’s Sikhumbuzo Ncube in goal. With just 10 minutes to go to half time, TUT proved why they are the reigning champions by scoring back-to-back goals, with a brace from Themba Ndlovu, one of which was an absolute stunner! And just when fans thought that the fireworks were done, Thabang Makgwena added salt to the wounds with a goal of his own to end the first half 4-0 in favour of TUT.
With four hard questions asked by the men from TUT, Fort Hare needed the interval to regroup.
UFH looked slightly more composed in the second half, but TUT looked to continue riding their momentum. And that they did, as three unanswered goals found their way into the back of the net. Keabetswe Mokwena got his name on the score sheet, before Lebogang Phathane and Thabiso Sibisi added theirs. Fort Hare came close with an audacious effort from just over the halfway line, which rattled the crossbar, but it ended 7-0, as the home side looked ragged.
Goalless after two matches and conceding 10 already, there is lots of work to be done as UFH look to get points on the board. A full three points for TUT away from home, but a nightmare of a match for the home side.
