With six of the eight teams still in with a chance to reach the semi-finals, Friday will be a make-or-break day. Pukke are still undefeated, and are first on the log with 21 points. Tuks, Maties and UJ are all on 17 points in the second place on the log. UWC have 12 and Madibaz are on 11; both still have outside chances.
Pukke vs UJ (9:30 at the NWU-Puk Oval)
Pukke are still undefeated this year. UJ came up with a maestro performance last night when they beat Tuks easily. That victory will give UJ a lot of confidence. But on the other hand, there is a belief in Potchefstroom that 2017 is Pukke’s year to lift the trophy.
Maties vs Madibaz (9:30 at the NWU-Puk Ibbies Oval)
Maties believe they are serious title contenders. They really played well on Thursday afternoon against Tuks even although they lost. They must beat Madibaz and do it properly. Now is the time to gain momentum.
Kovsies vs UWC (14:00 at Senwes Park)
UWC have been hot and cold this week. It is time for them to show what they are made of. If they dream of lifting the trophy on Saturday, they must beat Kovsies. Kovsies were not good this week. However, on Thursday afternoon they put up a fight when they lost to Pukke. This was the first time they really showed character. Can they upset UWC?
Madibaz vs Tuks (14:30 at the NWU-Puk Oval)
After Tuks got trashed on Thursday night by UJ, this is a must-win match for the chaps from Pretoria. But this won’t be easy. Madibaz are still in with a chance to reach the playoffs. They will need to prove that they can bark with the big dogs
UJ vs UCT (14:30 at the NWU-Puk Ibbies Oval)
UCT are one of the most disappointed teams so far this year. UJ will use this match to secure themselves a decent place on the log. Can the Capetonians came up with one earthshaking performance to topple UJ?
Puk vs Maties (18:00 at Senwes Park)
This could be the dress rehearsal for the final. Both teams are impressive to say the least. Maties were unlucky to lose against Tuks on Thursday afternoon. If Pukke lose in the morning to UJ and Maties also came second against Madibaz, this could be a decider.
