On Thursday, 18 August 2016, Varsity Sing, sponsored by FNB, moves north for the third round of the competition. The University of Johannesburg (UJ), University of Limpopo (UL) and the University of Pretoria (UP-Tuks) go head to head in the quest to book one of the four available spots in the second Varsity Sing semi-final.

As with the previous two rounds, the three universities aim to sing their way into the hearts of the viewers and the judges, covering three categories: Own Choice, South African Composition, and Original Composition. Two teams will progress to the second semi-final, after the first semi-final was decided last week.

“We hope the viewers and judges will join us on this musical journey,” said Michael Barrett, the choir conductor of UP-Tuks. “Through our choral music we want to make a difference on campus as well as the wider community surrounding our university.”

This round will see South African musical legend, Laurika Rauch, join the panel of judges as guest judge, alongside Loyiso Bala, Marvin Kernelle and Christo Burger.
