The first match of the inaugural Varsity Women’s 7s competition saw UP-Tuks take on UKZN and duly confirm that they’ve come to Pirates Rugby Club to claim the title.
UP-Tuks exercised their dominance over UKZN and ran riot with a convincing 34-0 display. The Stripe Generation particularly utilised their Powerplay and scored a 10-point try with Kemisetso Baloyi impressing throughout.
The second women’s fixture saw UFH take on UJ in what was a much tighter affair as both teams went for the jugular. The game was physical and furious as both teams scored tries at the stroke of half-time.
UFH went into halftime with a slender 7-5 lead but extended that margin with another try. UFH were now playing with that swagger towards the end of the game and ran away with a 21-5 victory.
