The inaugural Varsity Women’s 7s tournament will take place this weekend at Pirates Rugby Club in Greenside and the four competing teams have revealed their hands.
Gauteng teams UP-Tuks and UJ, will be joined by the coastal pair of UFH and UKZN in what should be an intriguing two days of sevens rugby action.
UP-Tuks have established their credentials both home and abroad in recent years and would thus be considered the favourites. UJ, however, have been hard at work getting their squad battle-hardened for months now so should be up for the challenge of surprising the Stripe Generation.

UFH and UKZN have been more stealth ahed of Varsity Women’s 7s and that may well count in their favour if the northerners rest on their laurels when they play them.
All told, the four teams will add an exciting dynamic to the #Varsity7sFest and here are the player who’ll be doing battle:
