Keesha van Schalkwyk is a wing attack playing in her third Varsity Netball tournament for UWC.
Although the 23-year-old captain is studying LLB (one of three in the squad), she identifies see her dream job as being in front of the camera as a presenter rather than in a court-room.
Van Schalkwyk has already had exposure to the industry, being the MC at a Varsity Cup match and here she gives varsitysportssa.com more interesting insights:
Most memorable match in the tournament over the years?
That was our clash against UJ last year. We won by two points (58-56). It was an absolute nail-biter.
What part of Varsity Netball do you enjoy the most?
I enjoy everything about Varsity Netball, the vibe in the camp, the TV exposure and the traveling. It’s a great competitive tournament, yet always fun as well.
What’s your hobby outside of netball?
I’m very active on social media (Instagram). I enjoy going to new places as well as traveling abroad and sharing that with my followers. I don’t know if this is considered a hobby, but it’s what I enjoy doing!
What job do you think you’d be good at?
Television presenter.
Do you have a hidden talent?
I can burp the alphabet, hahaha.
What’s the most impressive thing you know how to do?
I know how to MC the Varsity Cup in front of a 15 000 people.
What are you addicted to?
Sushi, coffee and a workout.
Which current opposition player would you have on your team and why?
Khomotso Mamburu, goal defence of the Maties. She’s just honestly one of the country’s best.
What’s your least favourite netball exercise?
The yo-yo.
With which celebrity/celebrities do you have a photo together?
Sonny Bill Williams, Ms Cosmo and Sheeca from Sheeca’s Closet.
What day in your life would you like to repeat?
My wedding day. That will only be happening in December next year, but I already know I’m going to want to relive it.
What song have you completely memorised?
Too many.
